When last I wrote, I was in the midst of preparing for Thanksgiving, and yikes here we are only 10 days away from Christmas…really? It shouldn’t come as a surprise, and yet it is surprising the speed at which the calendar moves.
I have already celebrated, a bit, with John’s mother, Elaine and her husband Van. They were here this past weekend and had an experience with us different from those past for a few reasons:
1. 2nd holiday Season without John Jr.
2. John III exhibiting some over the top behavior.
3. My parents are here as well.
4. Largest snowfall to date – 12 inches, all at once.
We did manage a great message at Saturday night service, followed by a festive dinner at Buca’s – a personal favorite of both Grandpas and a seat near the stage for the Manhattan Transfer holiday show.
It was a quick trip, with both highlights and lowlights. Maybe some of you can relate? Yet a gentle reminder – it’s the people, and the experience of Christmas that we remember as the years go by….
