How fast it all comes flashing back….Backpacks..Lunches..Alarm clocks…
Schedules..Practices and Homework. September has always signaled..at least for me..the beginning of Fall, which I love, partly because my birthday is in October).
I always loved going back to school – partly because my work in my Dadʼs factory was over and partly because I love office supplies..Always have, always will. While other little girls played house, I loved playing office..complete with writing checks out of my Momʼs checkbook…Ohh that did cause a problem or two. I love pens and markers, colored file folders, fresh pads of paper..all of it.
As I have aged, that love of all things related to office supplies hasnʼt changed. And as I am picking up supplies for the boys, a few other items invariably end up in my cart. The boys are not half as interested as I am, although Jake can be a bit particular.
September brings me back to a place of remembering the routine of school and the routine of the last month of life with John. Itʼs a month filled with so much promise…new teachers, new friends, new ballgames, new lessons…and itʼs a month filled with so much pain.
But for today, and this week, I will stay focused on the promise..of much more to be learned, more love to be shared and exciting memories to be made. What will you be remembering in the routine?
