When I was growing up, we didn’t title them “Family Meetings” per-se. We usually had some family time at some point during the day. I can remember even as a teen having devotionals in my parents bedroom. Dad would be reading, us all over the bed. We’d finish with us kneeling around the bed to say prayers.
This was a ritual that John and I started with the boys when they were little and it still continues today, Some of the sweetest moments we shared as a family, happened as the boys took turns reading the kids version of “Jesus Calling” every night. They would be laying on the bed next to John, who was wearing his breathing mask, yet fully aware of everything being said and what we were discussing. We would end each evening with us kneeling around his bed, holding hands and pouring our hearts out to Jesus..
The boys and I still meet every night a little after 9 to read, pray and talk and Dad joins in I know!
Family meetings are a wonderful way to reconnect, review and prepare for the next day…
